The Angels are Obsessed with Brooms

It has been interesting to see the Angels over the last seven games, they swept the Oakland Athletics, they were the victims of a sweep by the Texas Rangers, and they swept the Chicago White Sox. They are now 20 and 23 they are hovering over the .500 mark with multiple positives as well as some glaring problems.

The offense has been spectacular outscoring their opponents 39 to 22 over the last seven games with home runs by Hideki Matsui, Mike Napoli and Bobby Abreu and multiple home runs by Torii Hunter and Kendry Morales. The reshuffling of the lineup has helped their run production.

The pitching however has been a different story, on Tuesday, May 18 the Angels had a seven to three lead over the Texas Rangers in Arlington Texas only to lose that game 7 to 8. What good is the run production if the pitching staff will give runs back? The Angels need to find ways to address the pitching situation, especially the issue with Brian Fuentes he gave up yet another home run yesterday in the ninth inning against Chicago. As I mentioned in my previous entry I'm perplexed as to what more the Angels need to relieve Brian Fuentes of is closing duties and replace him with Fernando Rodney.

I strongly believe if our pitching problems are repaired the Angels can and will be a very dangerous team. It has yet to be seen it this corrections can be made before the division runs away from the Angels.
