The Red Predator Stalks its Very "Athletic" Green and Gold Prey

As of today we are only a 1/2 game behind Oakland, today is a travel day for the Angels; theoretically Oakland could hand us the division tie with a loss today. A well fortified Angels' offense is getting even better. Brandon Wood is slowly but surely beginning to find his niche his clutch hitting a few games ago is a pleasant surprise to me, as I hope it is to the most skeptical Brandon Wood critic out there.

Torii Hunter's bat is beginning to wake up, his glove and has been there since the beginning of the season, his bat needed to warm up a little bit, yesterday's three run home run brought Hunter's contribution full circle. I heard some references in the media about Hunter describing him as an old man. What are they talking about? old men don't have the competitive fire that a veteran carries with him Torii Hunter is a crafty veteran to describe them as anything else is both unfair an uncalled for. He deserved to score the winning run in the suicide squeeze yesterday, he is the Angels' heart and soul and I hope she stays an Angel for a long time to come.

Injuries are a part of the game however, I wish both the Angels and Athletics were at full strength. The Athletics have various players with injuries, and so do the Angels, I just hope the Athletics' fans use the injuries as an excuse for losing the division lead. The red predator is stalking the green and gold prey, a situation that the Athletics better get used to since this is our division!

Would do the umpires have against the Angels? Yesterday they ejected Mike Scioscia over something that was clear, Hideki Matsui was getting out of the way of a ball, and he was using his bat to keep his balance how is at a swing? Not to mention the ALCS last year where the umpire called Angel players out on a botched double play when they were clearly safe. I sincerely hope that these "calls" don't hurt the Angels in the playoffs, or even worse cost them an appearance in the playoffs.

We'll Angels' fans that's all for now, since today is an off day there isn't much to talk about Let's hope that the Athletics hand us the division tie tonight so we can take the division lead tomorrow. The Angels Are about to embark on a 10 game road trip against the Detroit Tigers, Boston Red Sox, and Seattle Mariners hopefully during this road trip the Angels can create some distance between themselves and the rest of the division. As always your comments and questions are always welcome here at the Halos' Hot Corner.
